Willis to Host Free Paper Shredding and Recycling Event in Northlake

“With the threat of identity theft on the rise, it’s important that we safety and securely dispose of old documents with important information in a way to ensure our protection,” said Willis. “However, often these shredding services can be costly, so I urge residents to participate in this event for the free service.”

In addition to the paper shredding, various organizations will be on hand to collect items for recycling. The American Legion will be collecting old American Flags, ComEd will be handing out information regarding refrigerator recycling, and the Cook County Sheriff’s Office will be helping to recycle cardboard boxes, magazines, electronics, and prescription drugs. The Lions Club will be collecting glasses and hearing aids for disposal, and an organization called Working Bides Cooperative will be collecting any working or non-working bicycles. Finally, old medical equipment will also be able to be recycled on-site. Residents with questions are urged to call the constituent service office at 708-562-6970.

“I hope residents take advantage of this free event to dispose of some unwanted items in a responsible matter,” said Willis. “I want to make my office as accessible as possible and holding events like this is one of the ways that I try to bring resources directly to the community for the local residents.”

Willis is serving her third term in the Illinois General Assembly as State Representative of the 77th District, which includes O’Hare Airport and portions of Addison, Bellwood, Bensenville, Franklin Park, Maywood, Melrose Park, Northlake, Stone Park, and Wood Dale.
